In Bambi\u2019s mind, the choice of having children or not\nin life clearly belongs to the woman only\u2026 or first and foremost if there is a\ncouple\u2019s partner in the equation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bambi recalls very well having once bumped into an\nacquaintance who was born in the same birth country as her. This lady shared\nwith her and with Bambi\u2019s spouse that she did not see them lately because she\nwas busy at work and she had an abortion. She said it in a very natural way.\nThey replied to her in the same natural way that they hope she is feeling well\nand made plans to see her later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After this encounter, Bambi recalls having told her\nspouse: \u201cSee, I told you, abortion is only a hot topic in the Americas. Imagine,\nin South America for instance, you can go to jail for having had a \u201cspontaneous\nabortion<\/em>\u201d (medical term for a miscarriage). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you imagine?! Had Bambi been living there, with\nthree recurrent miscarriages, Bambi would have spent the rest of her life\nbehind bars!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyhow, why is Bambi talking about choices\nand abortions here, it is because of this CBC<\/em> article from which we\nlearned that our provincial government \u201cblunts<\/em>\nopposition abortion motion, removes references to Clinic 554\u201d<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The question for Bambi is not why this political move\/decision. It is rather, why does a man as pragmatic and logical as Mr. Higgs, (shamelessly) pander to radicals (religious or not?) who want to impose their anti-choice views on others? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps he needs their votes to keep his majority\ngovernment? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps he wants to thank them for their votes because\nhe has a majority government?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, regardless of his own motivation, our\nprovince is free to manage its health decisions as it wishes. Perhaps this is\neasier with a majority government, along with distorted political moves like\nwhat they did. Our MLA, Ms. Megan Mitton, is right on denouncing the latter.\nThank you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last but not least, did we think about access to\nabortions at hospitals in terms of travel costs, risks of losing one\u2019s job,\nrisks of car accidents in the winter term, etc. Why BOTH of these hospitals\noffering abortion services are in Moncton and not one in Moncton and another\none elsewhere (Fredericton or Saint John, etc.)?
