Yesterday, at 5:30 PM, Mr. Fran\u00e7ois-Philippe\nChampagne, whom Bambi respects (and likes!) came at the rescue of his boss, Mr.\nTrudeau (who remains silent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, Mr. Champagne tweeted something likely\nto save face, from him as our Foreign Minister to his French counterpart. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other terms, not from Canada to\nTurkey to condemn the excessive, defamatory (and stupid) words about Mr. Macron\nand the risk to freedom of expression and international safety.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Mr. Trudeau waiting for to\nexpress himself directly and condemn the unacceptable behaviour OR to express sorrow\nabout Mr. Paty OR to defend freedom in our world?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is he paralyzed by Islamism or\u2026 by political\ncorrectness? Or both?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is he afraid of losing \u201cMuslim\u201d potential\nvote, as one of Bambi\u2019s clever friends wondered? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps he is waiting for the\nAmerican elections to see what will happen in our world?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps he has many other concerns,\nas some may think? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps all the above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Champagne wrote the following: \u201cWe will always stand together to defend freedom of expression with respect<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Champagne, was does \u201cwith respect<\/em>\u201d mean?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why did you add this term after freedom of expression?\nTo hide behind it or to say nothing, even with words that sound supportive?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we defend freedom of expression, we do it clearly,\nsimply, directly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Same for denouncing barbaric criminality of Islamists\n(i.e., decapitation of a teacher, Mt. Samuel Paty).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It would be nice to also reject inflammatory and\ndisrespectful remarks by Mr. Erdogan and truly support Mr. Macron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To conclude this post, what is deeply disturbing to\nBambi in our sadly stupid times is not seeing the world divided or radicalized.\nThis will pass.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is not whom would win in the USA, Mr. Biden or Mr.\nTrump. This will also pass. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite being polarized, Americans will eventually find\na way to re-unite, just like the Lebanese people did after civil war, and\nespecially on October 17, 2019 (with their revolt). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bambi is not worried about all the above as much she\nis disturbed to see Liberal parties (here and across the border) becoming illiberal\n\u2639. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Freedom of expression is at the heart of our\ndemocracies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are we waiting for to defend it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are doomed Mr. Champagne and Mr. Trudeau, if we stop\nbelieving in ourselves, as a society, and stop standing up for our Western values\n(including our attachment to freedom) or self-respect as a civilization (sense\nof pride of our past, despite the mistakes and imperfections, \u201cuniversal values\u201d\nto re-cite Mr. Macron, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are also doomed if we keep endorsing trendy racial ideologies,\nwithout critical sense, but that is not the focus of this post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Populations in least developed countries (under so-called\n\u201csecular\u201d dictatorships, full-blown corrupt governance without accountability, and\/or\nunder Islamism) look up to the Western world, Mr. Champagne. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many immigrate to it, precisely because of this freedom\nof expression. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They expect it to keep standing up for its own values.\nYes, those values of freedom and democracy they aspire for, without any\nconditional attached words to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can we have back this Liberal party of the past, Mr.\nTrudeau? Bambi misses it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The question also applies to the Conservative party, mind\nyou (+ other parties or independent brains; no one is immune). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Bambi\u2019s non-expert citizen opinion, political correctness\nis like an epidemic collective insanity. What would be its outcomes in 10, 20,\n50, or 100 years from now, if we do not wake up?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bambi may be wrong in being concerned, of course.Yet\nshe is asking these questions with the utmost respect and\u2026 lucidity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
