Period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can call her an immigrant, if you\nwish, because she is a first-generation immigrant (for over 30 years now).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most importantly to her, she is a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">proud Canadian<\/span>. She will remain proud\u2026 even if our society \u201csucceeds\u201d in destroying both its common sense and unity, with much ideology and less substance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bambi is a deer as well as a human being (yes it can happen!) who is Canadian, whilst being a New Brunswicker. She is also a Qu\u00e9becker who happens to also be Lebanese (with much pride of both!). Thus, she is also Arab (with tenderness, especially that the Arab world is in its darkest period of time ever)\/Middle-Eastern, and Mediterranean (she is biased she knows\u2026 for her, the latter remains the most beautiful sea of the world, excluding our Atlantic ocean for sure ?). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All those trendy categories or\nsub-categories Bambi refuses to be re-assigned into, just like Mr. Bock-C\u00f4t\u00e9 (e.g.,\nwhite, black, brown, yellow, etc.). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How can we succeed in truly respecting, and even embracing, others\u2019 identity\/ies if we do not have enough self-knowledge of\/self-respect for our own identity\/ies? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to Mr. Bock-C\u00f4t\u00e9 for describing to us the &#8220;absolute toxicity&#8221; of the \u201c2020 identity reassignment\u201d, to use his own words (an English translation is followed by the original tweet):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201c<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Identity\nreassignment 2020<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The new\ndominant ideology: I have seen myself as a Qu\u00e9becer, placing the French\nlanguage at the heart of his collective identity and a historical adventure of\nfour centuries. I learn that I am only a &#8220;white man&#8221;, and that\napparently the colour of my skin is more important than my language, my\nculture, and my history. I must dissociate myself from the history of Qu\u00e9bec\nand make myself united with the history of English Canada and the British\nEmpire, due to skin colour. I finally learn that if I refuse this forced\nreassignment of identity, which uproots me in addition to abolishing my memory\nto racialize me, I fall into racism and colonialism.
