{"id":34619,"date":"2026-07-17T15:33:48","date_gmt":"2026-07-17T18:33:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bambisafkar.ca\/?p=34619"},"modified":"2026-07-17T16:05:40","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T19:05:40","slug":"northumberland-straits-low-and-high-tides-nature-is-majestic-isnt-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bambisafkar.ca\/index.php\/2026\/07\/17\/northumberland-straits-low-and-high-tides-nature-is-majestic-isnt-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Northumberland Strait&#8217;s low and high tides: Nature is majestic, isn&#8217;t it?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"468\" height=\"453\" src=\"https:\/\/bambisafkar.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Soleil.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28695\" style=\"width:313px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bambisafkar.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Soleil.jpg 468w, https:\/\/bambisafkar.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Soleil-300x290.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 468px) 85vw, 468px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">I love warming the water of the  Northumberland Strait in Atlantic Canada!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>According to the Canadian Encyclopedia, &#8220;<em>the Northumberland Strait is a tidal water body between Prince Edward Island and the coast of eastern New Brunswick and northern Nova Scotia<\/em>&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/39nftsps\">https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/39nftsps<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compared to the more impressive tides of the nearby Bay of Fundy [12.192 to 15.24 meter (40-50 feet) range], the tides on Northumberland Strait are in the 2.4384 to 4.572 meter (8-15 feet) range <a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/ynwuxf73\">(https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/ynwuxf73<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, even if these tides are not as high, they go VERY far. This results in a highly warm water, due to the many daily sun hours warming the exposed Atlantic ocean sand (<a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/ynwuxf73\">https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/ynwuxf73<\/a>). At low tide, one can either walk or bike on the bottom of the ocean. At high tide, one can swim in the warm water. Regardless of the tides, it is highly rewarding to take the time to appreciate this beauty\u2014one moment at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are interested, below you can find two pictures, taken by Bambi a few hours apart, of the same spot on the Northumberland Strait from the side of the Amherst Short in Nova Scotia.
