In the article above,\nentitled \u201cIn 7-1 vote, Sackville Town Council appoints Jamie Burke as CAO<\/em>\u201d,\nwe learned what we already knew:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, Mr. Burke will be\nthe continuity of Mr. Phil Handrahan and his gang that specializes in shenanigans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contrary to what our\nMayor wrote: \u201cNo, he will not bring any innovation\u201d, as it will be rather \u201cmore\nof the same old\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second, Councillor Bruce\nPhinney is faithful to himself. No one is perfect. So, surely not him neither.\nHowever, one thing seems to be a consistent, regardless of the story:\nCouncillor Phinney is one of those rare principled politicians and public\nservants. Bambi is saying this, with all due respect to everyone in our town,\nprovince, country, and even beyond… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Councillor Phinney is an\nindependent mind. History will remember it\u2026 Thank you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third, sometimes (especially\nafter a certain age), new fulfilling roles in life offer an opportunity to some\nto become better human beings. They may surprise us with a good learned leadership,\nespecially when we would be expecting the worst (power abuse). They may even\nsurprise themselves before surprising us all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is Bambi\u2019s hope that\nMr. Burke will be one of these people who will discover that they can lead towns\nwith respect (+ transparency). Yes, true leaders do not need to abuse, if not\nthey would be anything but leaders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like anyone else in life,\nincluding deer, Mr. Burke has the potential for goodness, at the same time as a\npotential for harm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

May he remember that manipulation\nworks both ways: Those who think they are manipulating to please others or in\nthe name of others (perceived as being more powerful) can wake up one day to discover\nthat they are pawns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pawns can be cleverly used,\neven by those they have called \u201cfriends\u201d or \u201callies\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bambi hopes that Mr.\nBurke will know how to become more and more independent. It is never too late\nin life. This may be his chance to break away from older unhealthy patterns.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also her hope that\nhe will not allow himself to become even more disconnected from citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One good action Bambi\nnoticed coming from Mr. Burke over the past months was his efforts to be a good\ncommunicator online (in the name of our town).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It may not be the most\nimpressive achievement, but it is one where he seemed to have worked on\nimproving his communication with the public (even he did not officially apologize\nto two citizens he may have insulted in the past\u2026 unless Bambi has missed the\nfollow-up).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bambi hopes he will\nexpand this skill and\u2026 perhaps, with some miracle in this holy week, generalize\nit to his mandate as the CAO of Sackville. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
