\u201cIran said on Saturday that its armed forces had “unintentionally” shot down a Ukrainian airliner, killing all 176 passengers and crew on board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why did you deny this at first and pretended the West was\nlying? What has changed now? Are you too worried? Is this a game of some sort?\nOr are you genuinely sorry?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident came hours after Iran launched a wave of missiles at\nIraqi bases housing American troops in retaliation for the killing of Qasem\nSoleimani, one of Iran’s top generals, in a US drone strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Iranian armed forces were first to acknowledge the error,\nsaying the Boeing 737 had been mistaken for a “hostile target” at a\ntime when enemy threats were at the highest level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following are the main elements from the five-point statement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The armed forces said it had opened an investigation into what it\ncalled the “heartbreaking incident” after the Ukraine International\nAirlines plane (UIA) was brought down on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. The Iranian armed forces had been on their highest level of\nalert after launching missiles at Iraqi bases housing US troops and following\n“threats by the criminal American president and military commanders”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OK, if the Americans are criminals for killing a criminal, how do we call you and call ALL the other freaky (religious or so-called religious or just dictators) of the Middle East, regardless of their own side of insanity, for terrorizing innocents?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When will you let the innocent people simply live in dignity\nand peace?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Flights by the US military had increased around Iran after the\nmissile operation and following some reports of aerial targets moving towards\n“strategic centres” in the Islamic republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. After taking off from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International\nAirport, UIA flight PS752 turned, got close to a “sensitive military\nsite” of the Revolutionary Guards and appeared to fly like a “hostile\ntarget”. Due to “human error”, the plane was hit, which\n“unfortunately led to the martyrdom of a number of our dear compatriots\nand loss of life of a number of foreign nationals”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OK, your own folks are \u201cmartyrs\u201d and the others suffered from \u201closs\nof life\u201d. Do you think the word \u201cmartyrdom\u201d will comfort the grieving families?\nPlus, what is martyrdom to begin with? And did they ask for it? No, all they\nwanted was to come back home to their loved ones and their dreams. They did not\nhave this chance because of you.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are the 1500 Iranian citizens the Iranian regime killed during\nthe latest uprising also \u201cmartyrs\u201d?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What about those killed during the stampede of the funeral or Memorial\nof the killed general? Are they \u201cmartyrs\u201d too? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What about those dying a slow death in countries where you\nfund terror? Are they or will they become \u201cmartyrs\u201d too, if not yet? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. The statement expressed “condolences and sympathy”\nwith the families of those who died and gave an assurance that a\n“repetition of such mistakes would become impossible” through changes\nin operational procedures. It also said the armed forces would immediately\npresent the “culprit” to the judiciary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is the person who followed the orders of shooting the airplane\nalready a \u201cmartyr\u201d too? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most importantly, are you going to compensate the families of\nthe victims for your mistake?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Finally, it said “relevant officials from the\nRevolutionary Guards should, as soon as possible, give detailed explanations to\nthe honourable people in the national media”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
