Many great journalists of our country, and some politicians,\nhave been calling to raise our Canadian flag now after over 5 months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gesture of lowering the flag was MUCH needed (it\nwas the least to do\u2026.). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, after all this time, the symbolism of the\ngesture is being lost. Indeed, it is becoming absurd (and thus sad and frustrating).\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until when will it be low?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is raised again, even in the Mohawk territory\u2026 Do\nyou see the irony?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As journalists and veterans have wisely argued, Remembrance\nDay is ahead. This is a good opportunity to raise the flag, so we can lower it\nagain (https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/prince-edward-island\/flag-raised-remembrance-day-half-mast-1.6228449<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other tragedies or sudden death can occur in life\n(like one of Bambi\u2019s dear friends in town). Why don\u2019t we have our flags high,\nso we can express our sorrow again?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This does not mean we are no longer sad\/shocked by the\ndiscoveries of all the unmarked graves… We also know now that others will be uncovered\nsoon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is part of our past, as a nation. This is its dark\nside. This is our collective shame. However, even shame (or self-anger or fear)\nmust be confronted in life to grow and to learn, to repair and pay respect, to\nsay to oneself: Never again!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, never again, while being proud of whom we are and\nwhom we want to still be, collectively as a nation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No country is perfect, Mr. Trudeau. If there is anyone\nwho knows this, it is Canadians of Lebanese origins. They know that their birth\ncountry is a parody of a nation now. Yet, they love it, they forgive it, and\nthey have a tenderness toward it (yes, despite any love-hate relationship they may\nentertain with it). Those old enough, like Bambi, to have grown up during civil\nwar, know very well the tragedies of massacres. There have been so many of the\nlatter. Some of Bambi\u2019s friends lost their parents and siblings in some of\nthese human tragedies. Yet, they put this past behind them, without ever forgetting\nit of course, to move on with their lives. They are busy raising kids and being\nproductive Canadians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They, along with Bambi and the rest of the silent majority\nof Canadians, want to see their flag risen again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please, Mr. Trudeau, raise our flag now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
