Recently, Dr. Lametti introduced Bill 36. He tried to convince us in the media that this is meant to \u201ctackle hate speech<\/em>\u201d (https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/video\/7976115\/canada-announces-multi-faceted-approach-to-combat-online-hate-speech-crime-with-bill-c-36<\/a>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is \u201chate\u201d to begin with, Dr. Lametti? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who will define or identify it? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And why do you think we need such a bill? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you for your hard work\u2026 but, NO, to your Bill 36.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This bill is not just a slippery slope toward a government-sanctioned\nform of censorship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This bill is the evidence of it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sadly, Bill 36 was introduced by a party called \u201cLiberal<\/em>\u201d\nfor which Bambi has voted most of her Canadian voting life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With all due respect, Bambi finds this bill to be illiberal.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She strongly opposes it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mind you, she would have opposed it, regardless of the\npolitical party introducing it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, sorry Dr. Lametti\/Mr Trudeau, but Mr. Levant seems to be\nright about it and how we went from Bill 10 to Bill 36:  https:\/\/www.rebelnews.com\/justin_trudeau_introduces_worst_censorship_law_of_any_western_democracy<\/a>\n .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Global News<\/em> (https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/7976076\/bill-c-36-online-hate-canada\/<\/a>),\n\u201cthe bill would amend the Canadian\nHuman Rights Act to make it a \u201cdiscriminatory practice\u201d to communicate hate\nspeech through the internet where it is \u201clikely to foment detestation or\nvilification of an individual or group of individuals on the basis of a\nprohibited ground of discrimination.\u201d<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clearly, this bill can target citizens like Bambi who express\ntheir opinions about this or that topic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the case of Bambi\u2019s blog, a person or a group may claim they felt offended, emotionally triggered, or specifically \u201chated\u201d while reading this or that post. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of us may have a thin skin\u2026 others bad faith. Yet others\nmay truly feel like they are being hated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Bill 36, her blog would communicate so-called \u201chate speech<\/em>\u201d that can in the future be considered as \u201ca discriminatory practice<\/em>\u201d (https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/7976076\/bill-c-36-online-hate-canada\/<\/a>). Since when do we discriminate against anyone by sharing our thoughts?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, Bill 36 can\/will sadly be used against Bambi\u2019s fellow citizens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This makes Bambi think of \u201cYou are next<\/em>\u201d, to borrow\nthe brilliant title of Dr. Jordan Person\u2019s interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next person may be you\u2026 or Mr. Levant or his guest, called\nMr. Spencer Fernando (in the link above), whether you agree with their opinions\nor not, whether you like OR \u201chate\u201d them, online or in real life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of leaving alone citizens who think differently on\nthis or that issue, we are proposing a bill that can fine them\u2026 and silence\nthem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is this fair? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With such bill, will Canada remain democratic in the very long-term? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plus, we are no longer talking here about our own beautiful criminal\nlaws or violations of our Charter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are not just condemning violence or defamation, as per our laws\u2026 We are rather promoting censorship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are doing it by using (or claiming to use) feelings. As Mr.\nLevant explained it well, who has not loved or hated someone or something in his\nlife at one point or at another? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stated differently, this bill has the potential of being highly\narbitrary and has the power to censor Canadians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bambi does not support it, even if it is presented to her as\nan appealing candy called \u201canti-hate<\/em>\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is this the kind of Canada you want to live in in 2, 5, 10,\nor 25 years if this bill or similar ones become laws? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is surely not where Bambi would like to see Canada in 5, 10, and 25 years from now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With all due respect to these beautiful places, Bambi does\nnot want Canada to resemble Qatar, Dubai, Singapore\u2026 or China. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, the above are all authoritarian places. So why are we\nmodelling them? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To conclude this post, Bambi urges you to re-consider Bill 36,\nDr. Lametti\/Mr. Trudeau. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also her hope that our lawmakers, from the other parties\nand the independent voices (i.e. Ms. Jody Wilson-Raybould) will have enough\nlucidity and courage to say no to this bill, if they also see what Bambi is\nseeing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
